The third angel book review7/4/2023 ![]() ![]() There are many people, especially Black people, who wanted the story to be true. Both articles debunk the common misconceptions about her story. Attached below I have proved a link to both the Black Excellence and LA Times write up of her claims. None of which proves her claims that the Wachowski Sisters ever copied her work. The book is broken up into several sections a film treatment, a prose narrative (the point where I dnf'ed it that's more biblical structured), and photocopies of court documents. But, unless you like biblically structured storytelling it is very dry and uninteresting to read. Should you wish to investigate her claims on your own go ahead, it's available on Amazon. Would I recommend you read it? Not really. In fact, it more resembles a blend of first contact stories and biblical narrative than anything like the matrix. Does this book resemble the Matrix - not at all. Sophia Stewart is claiming to invent something that many authors have already explored before her, the blend of spirituality and science fiction. ![]() Effortless mckeown7/4/2023 ![]() ![]() McKeown realized, later, that trying too hard makes it harder to get the results you want. In his own words, “It was my most humiliating professional failure-ever.” However, due to his over-preparedness, he bombed. In chapter 1, McKeown shares an experience where a company invited him to present to an audience on leadership. Reduce the lag indicator to make the essential effortless.Surpassing Essentialism was undoubtedly challenging for McKeown, but he’s done a fine job writing a book that rivals his first. That said, I appreciate McKeown’s ability to simplify complex ideas and distill them in one book around one central theme. Covering topics that have been written about elsewhere is fine, of course, but I was hoping to see a fresh take on the idea. ![]() ![]() While I enjoyed Effortless, I couldn’t help but feel many of McKeown’s ideas have been covered elsewhere (and in greater detail).įor instance, Effortless Inversion is better known as inversion, a mental model with a chapter of its own in Shane Parrish’s, The Great Mental Models Vol. General ThoughtsĮffortless is Greg McKeown’s long-awaited follow-up to his bestselling debut book, Essentialism. Effortless offers actionable advice for making the most essential activities the easiest ones, so you can achieve the results you want without burning out. ![]() Shirley by Charlotte Brontë7/4/2023 ![]() ![]() Mrs Gaskell, in her famous biography of Charlotte, says that Charlotte explained that her portrayal of Shirley Keeldar is “what Emily Brontë would have been, had she been placed in health and prosperity.” Whilst Shirley is given the title, she does not appear until a third of the way through the book. The titular Shirley (the first time it had ever been used as a woman’s name) is based upon Emily Brontë. ![]() It is in the two protagonists, however, that we take most interest. The book centres around the earlier Luddite struggles, which was a mask for the Chartist struggles that were still raging. The curates Malone and Macarthey are both based to some extent on Charlotte’s future husband Arthur Bell Nicholls. Miss Wooler, former teacher of Charlotte and Anne, is called Mrs. Briarmains in Shirley is the Taylor house at Gomersal. Her great friend Mary Taylor, for example, is Rose Yorke. It’s well known that Charlotte used many real people, events and locations in the novel, barely disguised under other names. Shirley was Charlotte Brontë’s magnificent third novel ( although it was only her second to be published), and it’s of particular interest to fans of Anne Brontë. One of the main supporting allies in the TMNT: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stories, Arnold Bernid “Casey” Jones is a violent and hot-headed masked vigilante, created by Eastman as a type of parody of vigilante characters from the comics in the 1980s. Over a pedestal of a diorama set reflecting his territory, with old rusty pipes, broken bricks and a trash can with launched shuriken stars from his ninja rivals of the Foot Clan, Iron Studios present the statue "Casey Jones BDS - TMNT - Art Scale 1/10", with the anti-hero holding his club with the name "Eastman" printed as a brand, a tribute from Iron Studios to his creator on the comics. Carrying a golf bag on his back with golf clubs to be used as combat weapons, the warrior ally of the Mutant Ninja Turtles uses cycling gloves and other sports protective equipment over his casual clothes as a combat suit to impose his rough and intimidating looks and personality into his enemies. I have learned to appreciate Jay Kristoff’s works with the SF series Illuminae Files, written together with Amie Kaufman, and later on with his dark fantasy series The Nevernight Chronicles, so you can imagine my excitement at the publication of this new book, where I was sure he would successfully combine his writing skills with one of my favorite themes in the genre – vampires. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The narration-the narrative-takes this so matter-of-factly.
